Back in 2010, I was curious about my iPhone 4’s video capabilities and started shooting videos of my dog and his buddies at the dog park. After a few edited pieces and an upgrade to an iPhone 6, I realized the phone had tremendous potential and started to incorporate its simple and intuitive camera into my video work. In 2015, I accepted an offer by Iranian women’s rights activist in exile, Mahboubeh Abbasgholizadeh, to create a curriculum for her media nonprofit to teach Iranian women artists and activists around the world how to use mobile video technologies to tell their stories. In 2016, I expanded this vision to my community of filmmakers, photographers, artists, and entrepreneurs around New York City, including at the International Center of Photography where I am on faculty. Four years later, the mobile video revolution is really taking shape. Come join the us!

• Other apps and accessories that make shooting simple and accessible 

• How to develop your ideas and conceptualize your videos 

• “Best practices” to film and edit 

Each student creates, shares, and receives feedback on their own video project.

Prerequisites & requirements

• iPhone 5 or higher with iOS 13 or higher

• Camera and iMovie apps

• At least 2 GB of free space

• A willingness to learn new equipment and software
